Exxon Builds Sakhalin Road

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK — Exxon Neftegas, operator of the Sakhalin-1 project, will provide $75 million over the next three years to build a road linking the south and north of the island from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk through the Nogliki region to Okha, Interfax reported Thursday.

The latest partnership agreement, which stipulates the provision of the funds, was signed by the region's governor, Alexander Skharshavin, and Exxon Neftegas president James Taylor.

Skharshavin said the agreement means a "new century of cooperation between the regional government and the Exxon Neftegas company."
