Industrial Production Faster

Russian industrial-production growth accelerated last month, the State Statistics Service said Friday.

Output rose 6.5 percent in February compared with a year earlier, the fastest since January 2011 and up from a 3.8 percent reading the previous month.

Gains in manufacturing and utilities output propelled production, helping the economy weather disruptions in financial markets caused by the crisis in Europe. Prices of goods leaving factories and mines grew 7 percent in February from a year earlier and rose 1.1 percent in the month, the service said.
