Body of Missing Peruvian Diplomat Found

The body of a Peruvian diplomat who went missing on New Year's Day was fished out of the Moscow River on Tuesday, though police remained at a loss about what prompted the death.

Sergio Del Castillo Cebreros, 28, second secretary to the chief of the consular department of the Peruvian Embassy in Moscow, was last seen at about 6 a.m. on Jan. 1 when leaving the Rolling Stones club on the downtown Bolotnaya Naberezhnaya. He was heavily intoxicated at the time.

His body was discovered floating by Kadashyovskaya Naberezhnaya near the Novokuznetskaya metro station, some 1.2 kilometers from the club, a law enforcement source told RIA-Novosti. He was only identified by a dragon tattoo on his back, Lifenews.ru added.

A preliminary examination of the body found no signs of a violent death, Lifenews.ru said, citing another law enforcement source. Earlier, a case was opened on murder charges, punishable with up to 15 years behind bars.
