Journalist's Shooter Jailed

A Moscow court on Friday jailed a St. Petersburg businessman for a year for shooting an editor for Russia Today state television in the leg, Interfax said.

Sergei Virolainen was also fined 300,000 rubles ($10,400). It remained unclear whether he would appeal.

Virolainen shot Natalya Arkhiptseva, an editor for the English-language cable channel, with an air gun in a Moscow restaurant in October. Reports said he was drunk at the time and attacked the woman after she reprimanded him for an offensive remark about her.
