BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — A large mob torched the house of a businessman suspected of ordering the killing of a tax inspector in southern Kyrgyzstan, police said Tuesday, raising fears of a new outburst of violence in the country.
Several hundred people assembled on Tuesday to demand that police step up their murder investigation before burning the house, said Nookat city police spokesman Bakyt Nishanov. Police broke up the crowd, and firefighters put out the fire, he said.
