5th ‘Guerrilla’ Arrested

Far East investigators said Monday that a fifth suspect has been arrested in the case of “Primorye guerrillas” who waged a self-proclaimed war against police this spring.

The suspect, Alexei Nikitin, 21, has been charged with participating in the murder of four residents of the local village of Kirovka in 2009 to rob them of illegal drugs, the Primorye region branch of the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

Four people detained in the “guerrilla” case in June initially faced accusations of targeting police officers, but later investigators said the suspects were bandits who attacked ordinary residents.
