Web Site Warned Over Post

A Supreme Court’s ruling that web-based media outlets cannot be closed for comments on their forums failed to prevent the Federal Mass Media Inspection Service from punishing a web site for such a comment.

The service wrote on its web site Wednesday that it had asked nationalist journalist Konstantin Krylov to remove unspecified comments posted on his web site, APN.ru on Monday. But Krylov failed to comply in 24 hours, and the service issued a warning.

A media outlet can be closed if it receives two warnings. The Supreme Court ruled last week that online media outlets cannot be warned for user comments if they agree to delete them on request from the authorities.
