Turkmenistan to Buy 2 Boeings

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan -- The Central Asian republic of Turkmenistan will buy two second-hand Boeing 737-332 passenger aircraft for about $36 million each, excluding insurance, Turkmen officials said Tuesday. The officials, who declined to be named, said insurance for the two planes was being arranged but could give no details on cost. Delivery to Turkmenistan, a desert country bordering Iran, was expected later this week. The republic's fleet currently consists of one Boeing-737 and around 30 ageing medium-haul Russian-built Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft, Interfax said.
