TASS Journalists Given Top Jobs at Russia's RBC

Maxim Stulov / Vedomosti

Two journalists from the state-owned TASS news agency have been given top editorial roles at the RBC media holding, the Vedomosti newspaper reported Thursday.

Yelizaveta Golikova and Igor Trosnikov — both of whom formerly worked as editors at Kommersant — are to start in their new posts from July 14.

Maxim Solyus, editor-in-chief of the RBC newspaper, was dismissed from his post on May 13. Editor-in-chief Yelizaveta Osetinskaya and chief editor of the RBC website Roman Badanin also resigned in protest, along with several other staff members.

Osetinskaya later alleged that government pressure had triggered the dismissals, with RBC's work on the Panama Papers acting as a ‘red rag’ for the Kremlin.

While their individual roles are not yet clear, Trosnikov is believed to be in charge of content for RBC.ru, while Golikova will take responsibility for the website as a product,Vedomosti reported.
