Sports Illustrated Taxed

TORONTO () -- Canada plans to slap a surtax on the Canadian edition of Sports Illustrated in a move to protect the nation's cultural identity.

Heritage Minister Michel Dupuy said the government would tax Canadian editions of foreign-owned magazines, a move clearly aimed at media giant Time Warner Inc.'s Sports Illustrated Canada.
