Officer Punished for Sodomy

A policeman in the Penza region has been sentenced to four years in prison for using a rubber baton to sodomize a man detained for petty hooliganism.

The deputy department head at a district police office was found guilty of sodomizing the drunk man in August 2008 after the detainee "disobeyed" him, investigators said Friday. The detainee received grave bodily injuries.

The policeman, whose name has not been released, was sentenced to prison on Thursday after being convicted of abuse of authority combined with violence that led to grave consequences. The officer was also stripped of his title.
