THE HAGUE, Netherlands -- Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday that Moscow was studying Dutch evidence that a TV cameraman was killed by a Russian cluster bomb during the Georgia war.
But Lavrov stood by a Russian investigation that has rejected the Dutch Foreign Ministry's conclusion that cameraman Stan Storimans died that way.
Lavrov blamed the Dutch journalist's death on Georgia's decision to launch an attack in August aimed at regaining control of South Ossetia.
"He is one of the victims of the war that the Georgian leadership started," Lavrov told reporters after meeting his Dutch counterpart, Maxime Verhagen, during a regularly scheduled visit to the Netherlands.
"Material including photographs and video have been handed to us and are being investigated," Lavrov said of the Dutch evidence.
Moscow and the Netherlands remain at odds over who is to blame Storimans' death on Aug. 12 in Gori.
