Key Car Gangs Caught

MOSCOW () -- Police have arrested the ringleaders of two gangs that stole cars and then resold them, using military facilities for transport and storage, news reports said Friday.


The newspaper Vechernyaya Moskva said one gang attacked drivers, stole their cars and took them to a military airfield southwest of Moscow for shipment to Armenia and resale.


Another gang used a city army base to store cars while engine identification numbers were changed and license plates were altered, the military newspaper Krasnaya Svezda said Friday.
