Clintons Send Gifts to Bosnia

WASHINGTON -- Somewhere in Bosnia a little girl is about to receive a teddy bear as a present from the president of the United States.

President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary, are participating in a humanitarian effort called "Operation Christmas Child" that is sending 700,000 shoe boxes filled with presents to Bosnia for children in need.

The Clintons are sending a box for a Bosnian girl aged nine to 10. In addition to the teddy bear it will contain knitted gloves, toothpaste, a toothbrush, shampoo, a music box, sweets, pens in a floral tin container, notepaper and cards.

But the most unique item is about six boxes of "presidential" M&Ms candies. The boxes, which have the presidential seal, are usually given out as souvenirs on the presidential plane, Air Force One. How the Clintons are getting all this into a shoe box was not exactly clear.
