Opposition politician Alexei Navalny and members of his Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) have been attacked in a Russian airport, Navalny's spokesperson wrote on Twitter.
Roughly 20 attackers, half of them wearing Cossack uniforms, descended on the group as they entered the airport in the southern Russian city of Anapa, Kira Yarmysh wrote.
The group of men initially poured milk over the activists before beginning to beat Navalny and his companions, including several women. They told the FBK group to, “get out of our Kuban land,” Yarmysh told the RBC newspaper.
FBK employee Artyom Torchinsky was hospitalized as a result of the attack.
Two police officers nearby took no action to stop the attack, Yarmysh wrote.
“The police intervened only when they pushed Artyom [Torchinsky] to the ground and started kicking him,” she said.
