3 Volcanoes Erupt Simultaneously in Kamchatka

Three volcanoes on the Kamchatka Peninsula are erupting simultaneously, and a flight safety warning has been issued for the area.

The volcanoes — Shiveluch, Kizimen and Plosky Tolbachik — have been erupting with varying intensity in recent weeks after a dormancy of many years, Interfax reported Tuesday.

A federal geophysical service official said ash and gas plumes from Shiveluch were shooting up nearly five kilometers into the air.
