Google Fined $6,000 for Ad Infringements By Russian Anti-Trust Watchdog

The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has fined search engine Google 200,000 rubles ($6,000) for violating Russian advertising laws, the regulator said Tuesday in an online statement.

The regulator last month accused Google of advertising several types of medication without providing the legally necessary health warnings and instructions on how they should be taken.

Google was ordered to stop advertising the pharmaceuticals in question — flu prevention or relief formulas Kagotsel, Immunal, Immunal Plus C and Genferon Light Spray — while the case was being put together.

Last year, the regulator levied fines for advertising infringements totaling 153 million rubles ($4.4 million), the statement said.
