Wanted Terrorist Shot Dead in Dagestan

Russian security forces have fatally shot a wanted terrorist in Dagestan.

Russian security forces in the country's restive southern republic of Dagestan have fatally shot a wanted terrorist after he failed to give himself up to police, a news report said Thursday.

The shooting took place Wednesday night in the city of Makhachkala, the republic's capital, the Interfax news agency reported, citing a regional law enforcement spokesman.

The man, identified as 24-year-old Rizvan Aliyev, was on the federal wanted list for committing a series of terrorist acts, the spokesman was quoted as saying.

Aliyev, a former math and physics student, was armed with a Glock firearm and a grenade at the time of the shooting, the spokesman added.
