Russian Children's First Day Back in School

This morning, Russian children will have had to awake early, don new school uniforms and introduce themselves to new teachers and schoolmates. Despite requests to move the start of the new school year back to Sept. 15 in order to capture an extra two weeks of balmy weather, millions of Russian children will return to their studies on Sept. 1 after a three-month summer vacation.



Many of them will arrive on new school campuses — 107 new school buildings will be opened across Russia by Sept. 1, Interfax reported. Schools in Moscow were equipped with 26,000 CCTV cameras to better ensure children's security.
