Muscovites have been grappling with record snowfall since the weekend, snarling traffic, disrupting public transportation and burying sidewalks under thick drifts.
Russia’s Hydrometeorological Center said the Jan. 9 snowfall ranked among the five heaviest in Moscow’s 146 years of weather records.
The Moscow Mayor’s Office said city services cleared nearly 1 million cubic meters of snow over the weekend.
With more snowfall forecast through Wednesday, the capital is not yet out of the woods just yet.
