Aeroflot will seek more than $100 million in fines from Boeing for delays in delivering the 787 Dreamliner, deputy chief executive Shamil Kurmashov said Tuesday.
“Of course, we will,” he said when asked whether the company would demand the fines. “It’s written in the contract.”
Deliveries of 22 jets to Aeroflot were initially scheduled to start in 2014 but were moved to 2016.
He also said Aeroflot wants the government to wait at least three years to sell a stake in the carrier, as it integrates assets and raises its market value.
The state-controlled airline aims to almost double its value to $5 billion by 2014 while adding assets from regional carrier Rosavia, Kurmashov said.
Aeroflot has a market value of 81.1 billion rubles ($2.65 billion), based on Wednesday’s price.
