May Downpour Could Bring 60% of Monthly Rainfall to Moscow

Less than a week into the month of May, the Moscow region is close to recording more than half the average amount of rainfall for the whole month if the latest downpour continues into Monday night, the weather bureau said.

If the amount of rain in the capital reaches 30 millimeters by Tuesday, the Moscow region will have seen 60 percent of the average rainfall norm for May, which is 51 millimeters, Interfax reported, citing the Moscow weather bureau.

The weather agency forecast another 10 millimeters of rain would fall in the Moscow region on Monday alone.

The rains could be accompanied by strong gusts of wind, with temperatures reaching about 12 degrees Celsius on Monday, the report said.
