The deputy transportation minister of the Kabardino-Balkaria republic was hospitalized in Nalchik on Thursday morning after his car exploded at his home in the republic's capital.
Police said an improvised explosive device that had been attached to the gate of the Vladislav Dyadchenko's house detonated at about 9:20 a.m. after being triggered by the official opening the gates to his property, RIA-Novosti said.
Dyadchenko was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators working at the scene said that according to preliminary information, the bomb's blast was equivalent to 200 grams of TNT, and the device was made inside an empty beer can, Interfax reported.
The Investigative Committee is considering opening a criminal case on charges of attempted murder, which carry a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
