Kobzon U.S. Visa Decision to Come Within Month

Crooner and United Russia Deputy Iosif Kobzon expects to find out within a month whether the United States will grant him a visa.

Kobzon had an interview at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow on Thursday as part of the visa application process, saying afterward: “Everything went very politely, hospitably,” RIA-Novosti reported.

Kobzon, 75, has been denied a U.S. visa since 1995, after his multientry visa was revoked on suspicion that he had links to Russian mafia leaders in the United States. He is now trying to get a visa to do a farewell concert tour there.

Embassy staff told Kobzon on Friday that they would “wait for a decision from Washington and answer within a month,” he said.
