The Education and Science Ministry has drafted a decree on testing foreign migrants for their knowledge of the Russian language, a news report said Wednesday.
According to the document, migrants must know at least 850 Russian words, be able to comprehend a written text and write legible statements on a given subject, Interfax reported.
Visiting foreign migrants are expected to be able to "understand general verbal information contained in short monologues and conversations on general everyday subjects, be able to construct and convey cohesive, logical statements on a given subject, understand the meaning of a verbal conversation and be able to perceive the interlocutor's tone and general intentions in the limited context of everyday situations," the document said.
The ministry said it will accept suggestions for the draft decree on its official website until March 27.
