A Tyumen resident brutally stabbed a drinking companion to death after mistaking her for a ram in an alcohol-fueled quarrel, local investigators said Monday.
The suspect, an unidentified 52-year-old man, was drinking alcohol with a 46-year-old woman in a home on Sevastopolskaya Ulitsa on Friday evening.
"After a while, the man, being in a state of intoxication and feeling personal hostility toward his friend, went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife," investigators said in a statement. "He returned to the room and struck his friend in the neck, head and chest at least seven times. The victim died at the scene of her injuries."
They added: "The suspect said that, after drinking the alcohol, his friend looked like a ram."
The suspect faces charges of murder, which carry a punishment of six to 15 years in prison.
