Chechen Nobel Nomination

Chechen writer Kanta Ibragimov has been nominated for the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Chechen president’s office said Wednesday.

Ibragimov was nominated for his novel “Detsky Mir,” or “A Child’s World,” about an orphan boy who had to live through the 1994-96 Chechen war like an adult. The novel was published in 2005.

Chechen-born Ibragimov, 69, heads the Chechen Union of Writers.
