LUSAKA, Zambia —Altimo has been added to the list of firms bidding for a majority stake in Zambia’s fixed-line phone company Zamtel, the sale of which has drawn criticism from unions and the opposition.
Altimo, which submitted its bid a few minutes after the closing period on Dec. 23, brings the number of firms vying for a slice in Zamtel to four. Altimo is Alfa Group’s telecoms arm.
