Bolshoi Ballet director Sergei Filin is preparing to file a suit against the suspects of the Jan. 17 acid attack that caused him severe injuries to his eyes and face to receive compensation for damages, a news report said Friday.
Tatyana Stukalova, Filin's lawyer, said it was too early to cite a specific sum that her client is seeking, noting that Filin is still undergoing medical treatment and all related expenses must first be calculated, Interfax reported.
Filin sustained severe injuries to his face and eyes in the high-profile attack near his home. Although the ballet director has already undergone several surgeries, it is unclear whether he will fully regain his sight.
Police arrested three suspects in the crime, including the Bolshoi's lead dancer, Pavel Dmitrichenko, who law enforcement officials consider the attack's organizer.
Stukalova told Interfax that Dmitrichenko's lawyers had not offered to settle the issue of compensation out-of-court.
