Left Front leader Sergei Udaltsov was released late Tuesday after serving a 10-day prison sentence in Moscow, his group said, adding that he was on a hunger strike during the arrest, losing 6 kilograms.
Udaltsov was detained Feb. 12 after the Day of Wrath, a regular rally staged by his group to protest actions of city authorities. The rally was sanctioned, but later activists tried to march down the street to the presidential administration building, which prompted arrests.
Udaltsov was jailed for disobeying lawful police orders. The activist, who promised to appeal the ruling, has already staged a hunger strike over his similar short-term arrest in December, though no announcement was made at the time about that strike's health impact.
