Scorned Husband Rams Wife's Apartment With Truck

The Gazel trucked rammed backwards into the apartment building. Andrei Barkentin

A jealous man repeatedly drove a truck into the wall of an apartment building in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg to take revenge on his wife because she didn't come home for a few nights, regional police said in a statement.

Following an argument between the couple on Monday, the man, identified as Andrei N., got into his wife's truck and started ramming it into the wall of the two-storey wooden apartment building where she lives, the statement said.

The building was damaged, but no one was injured, police said.

The woman had been staying in alternative accommodation before the altercation because she was having repair work done to her room, police said.

The man, 44, who had served a five-year prison term for rape, was detained and fined an unspecified amount for refusing to take an alcohol test. The offense carries a penalty of up to 30,000 rubles ($927).

He may also face another prison term — this time up to two years — if the damage to the house proves to be significant.
