Putin Disgusted by Gadhafi Death Images

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that he was disgusted by television images of Moammar Gadhafi's last minutes and his corpse after death, but stopped short of making any political statements on the issue.

"Almost all of Gadhafi's family has been killed, his corpse was shown on all global television channels. It was impossible to watch without disgust," Putin said. "The man was all covered in blood, still alive, and he was being finished off."

Putin was one of the most outspoken critics of the Western intervention in Libya and likened it to "medieval calls for crusades." NATO airstrikes allowed anti-Gadhafi fighters to topple Gadhafi's regime.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called for an investigation into Gadhafi's murky death last week, which apparently occurred after the former Libyan leader's car convoy was attacked by NATO planes.
