Public Transportation to Run Till Early Hours During Winter Holidays

City authorities said Thursday that they would lay on additional public transportation for Muscovites out celebrating during the upcoming winter holidays.

The city government's transportation and infrastructure department said in a statement on its official website that the capital's overground public transportation would operate until 3 a.m. on Jan. 1 and 7, when Russians celebrate Christmas.

The metro will run until 2 a.m., the statement said.

City transportation officials said that they would deploy an extra 250 buses, 100 trolleybuses and 50 trams on especially popular routes during the festive season and that they would run at intervals of between 25 and 30 minutes.

Special routes will be arranged between places where New Year's festivities are planned, including Luzhniki Stadium, the Olympic Village and the Moscow city parliament, the statement said.
