State Prosecutor Boris Loktionov has requested a mixture of life sentences and lengthy prison terms for the five men convicted of having organized and committed the 2006 murder of investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya, Interfax reported Tuesday.

The prosecution sought life sentences for convicted mastermind Lom-Ali Gaitukayev and convicted triggerman Rustam Makhmudov. Sentences ranging between 15 and 22 years were requested for the remaining three accomplices.

The Moscow city court said it will announce the verdict in the high-profile case on June 9.
