A Nordstar light aircraft was forced to turn around and head for the Krasnoyarsk airport from which it had taken off after experiencing engine trouble, a news report said Thursday.
The ATR-42 twin-turboprop plane took off at 9:05 a.m. local time from Krasnoyarsk and was headed for the regional town of Tura, population 5,000, Interfax reported.
The plane set down at 10:50 a.m. at Krasnoyarsk's Emelyanovo Airport.
"The captain of the aircraft said he made the decision to return to Krasnoyarsk due to worrying vibrations from the engine," an Interior Ministry spokeswoman told the news agency.
A team of specialists will investigate the reasons for the engine difficulties, the spokeswoman said, adding that an official statement would be made in due course.
There were 44 people on board the ATR-42 plane Thursday, including two children and three crew members, a Nordstar representative told Interfax.
All passengers will be flown to Tura on a reserve airplane at approximately 12:20 p.m. local time, the representative said.
