One Dead, 2 Injured in Fight Between Cacausus Groups in Southeast Moscow

A fight broke out between two groups of Caucasus natives in southeastern Moscow, leaving one dead and two in the hospital with knife wounds, police said Monday.

According to a preliminary police investigation, the incident was the result of earlier personal conflict, senior police official Sergei Stukalov told Interfax.

The incident started on Sunday evening at 23 Ulitsa Nizhniye Pole, near the Baku Hotel, when an argument escalated into a fight, Stukalov said.

The site was the courtyard of the Tire Company, Life News reported.

"As a result of the use of firearms in the conflict, one of the victims received gunshot wounds to the chest and right forearm and died at the scene," Stukalov said. "The two other victims suffered stab wounds of varying severity, and they were taken to the hospital."

The dead man was a native of Azerbaijan, while the other two men were from Azerbaijan and Georgia, the report said. Life News identified the dead man as 28-year-old Ramil Ismailov.

Police later stopped a car carrying suspects from the shooting. The Mercedes sedan had Chechen license plates.

Police found at the crime scene an unregistered Saiga-20 shotgun, two traumatic pistols and 30 cartridges of various calibers, Interfax said.

An investigation has been opened into murder, attempted murder and illegal weapons trafficking. If charged and convicted, suspects face up to 15 years.

No suspects were charged immediately.
