No Russian runners were injured in the twin blasts that went off near the finish line of a marathon in Boston, the Foreign Ministry said.
"According to preliminary information coming from our embassy in the U.S., no Russian marathon runners were hit," the ministry said on its Twitter account.
Three people were killed and more than 170 others were injured by the explosions, which occurred 12 seconds apart, on Monday. The dead have been identified as a Chinese national and two Americans, a 29-year-old restaurant manager and an 8-year-old boy.
Twenty-four Russian athletes were in Boston to participate with the 22,000 runners in the annual Boston Marathon.
