Moscow Prefect Died Watching Soccer Match in Spartak Stadium

The head of Moscow's central district died during a soccer match in the Russian capital, shortly before his 59th birthday, a news report said.

Viktor Fuyer died at the Otkritie Arena, where Moscow's Spartak was playing Krasnodar on Sunday night, the TASS and Interfax news agencies reported, citing unidentified sources in the city's emergency services and from the mayor's office.

The death appeared to have been caused by a heart attack, according to preliminary information, an official from the mayor's office was quoted by Interfax as saying.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed Fuyer's death and expressed condolences via Twitter about the death of "one of the best prefects in Moscow."

Fuyer had served as the central district's chief since 2012, Interfax reported.
