Mayor Offers Reward to Kill Crazy Bear

A mad bear was rampaging through an isolated town in central Russia's Tomsk region on Monday, putting residents on the offensive.

"The mad beast is beating glass, breaking down doors and window frames, invading residences and breaking furniture. The bear poses a danger to people," the town's dispatcher told Interfax.

The mayor of Kedrovy has offered an award of 5,000 rubles ($157) to the person who kills the bear.

The bear population of the Tomsk region has spiked in the past year, rising from 8,800 in 2012 to 9,700 in 2013, Gazeta.ru reported.
