Man Dies After Accidentally Being Delivered to Morgue

Pskov officials have opened an official inquiry after a 57-year-old man died from being accidentally delivered to a local morgue while still alive and left in a freezing room.

Acting regional Governor Maxim Zhavoronkov on Friday ordered a commission of experts to look into the incident, which took place in the town of Sebezh, almost 200 kilometers from the regional capital, according to a statement on the regional administration's website.

The head doctor and chief nurse of the Sebezh District Hospital have been suspended while the check is ongoing, the statement said.

According to an initial check, the deceased was declared dead on Monday, although separate tests run on Wednesday found that he was alive when doctors dispatched him to the morgue, Interfax reported.
