BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — Kyrgyzstan said Uzbekistan had barred access to a Kyrgyz exclave inside its territory, the latest manifestation of border tensions between the Central Asian neighbors.
Border officials in Kyrgyzstan said Wednesday that the blockade has been in place for almost a week, depriving residents of the village of Barak of food supplies.
A clash on the border earlier this month resulted in injuries on both sides.
During that incident, Kyrgyzstan's border guards said they had come under attack from residents of the Uzbek exclave of Sokh, inside Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz authorities have since been hindering access to Sokh, creating hardship for its residents.
