Kremlin: Ukraine's Plan to End Diplomatic Relations With Russia Is 'Bordering on Insanity'

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov Kremlin Press Service

Ukrainian officials' initiative to severe diplomatic relations with Russia is ?€?bordering on insanity," presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday, the RBC news agency reported.

"Let us wait for the outcome of the review [of the initiative]," Peskov told the journalists of RBC. "Various initiatives bordering on insanity are not uncommon in recent times," he added.

On March 15, members from the Ukraine's Radical Party submitted to parliament ?€” the Verkhovna Rada ?€” a resolution on "the termination of diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation." The initiative was supported by Verkhovna Rada's foreign affairs committee, RBC reported.

Committee members discussed the initiative "for almost an hour," according to an author of the initiative, Volodymyr Parasyuk. "It was very hard to see how the representatives of the executive branch and some of the MPs behaved like lawyers of the aggressor country [Russia]," he said, RBC reported.

"But the decision was made. Now we are waiting for support in the hall of the Verkhovna Rada," Parasyuk added.
