A fire caused the evacuation of the Gorbushkin Dvor shopping center in western Moscow on Wednesday.

No one was injured in the blaze, which apparently broke out in the ventilation system, Interfax reported, citing the police.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Thick black smoke was still rising from the shopping center on 5 Barklaya Ulitsa on Wednesday afternoon.

Gorbushkin Dvor, an electronics mall, was established to replace the infamous Gorbushka outdoor market, once the biggest seller of pirated movies, music and software in Moscow. City authorities cracked down on the outdoor market under Western pressure to protect intellectual property.
