Fire Breaks Out at Posh Moscow Restaurant

A fire broke out Sunday night at the luxury Simple Pleasures restaurant in central Moscow, prompting the evacuation of patrons.

Nobody was injured, Interfax reported Monday.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze at the restaurant at 22/1 Ulitsa Sretenka, near metro Sukharevskaya, after it had consumed about 30 square meters of area, the report said.

The cause of the fire was unclear. But Interfax said it started in the attic and burned through wooden rafters there.

Simple Pleasures is located in a mansion and divided into three rooms: the Big Hall, which can accommodate up to 400 guests; the Fireplace Hall; and a karaoke club with room for 60 people, according to its website.
