Doctor in Tatarstan Found Dead With Needle in Neck

A doctor in Tatarstan was found dead Wednesday with a syringe stuck in his neck, local media reported Thursday.

The body of the 44-year-old emergency room doctor was found by a nurse when she came to work, according to Chelninskiye Ivestia, a regional news outlet for the city of Naberezhniye Chelny.

The deceased, who was not named in the report, had worked at the hospital for 10 years.

Another doctor at the hospital, Azat Fatkhetdinov, was cited by the publication as saying his colleague had frequently complained about heart problems lately. Hospital staff believe he may have attempted to give himself a shot when experiencing acute heart pains, the report said.

Investigators are currently looking into the incident, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
