Berlusconi Visits Minsk

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Monday became the first Western leader to pay an official visit to Belarus since the 1994 election of President Alexander Lukashenko.

He arrived in Minsk and was received by Lukashenko at the presidential palace, the Ansa news agency said.

Before his arrival, the parliament voted to liberalize the country’s election law.
