'Are You Ready to Learn the Truth?' Chelyabinsk Meteor Sci-Fi Film on the Way

A group of amateur Russian filmmakers have released a trailer for an upcoming science-fiction film about the meteor that famously fell from space, smashing into the shore of Lake Chebarkul near Chelyabinsk on Feb. 15, 2013, Rossiiskaya Gazeta reported.

The full-length feature film, aptly named "Chelyabinsk (15.02.13)," revolves around an alternate version of the events surrounding the meteor strike.

The plot centers on three acquaintances who, while visiting the meteor crash site, witness supernatural phenomena, causing them to question the official version of events.

Advertisements for the film feature the slogan: "Are you ready to learn the truth?"

The meteor's earth-rattling impact caused nearly 1,500 injuries, and extensive material damage to the industrial city, located 1,500 kilometers east of Moscow.

A scarcity of solid evidence discovered at the meteor crash site has, predictably, given rise to a plethora of conspiracy theories.

Among other theories, the flamboyant leader of Russia's Liberal Democratic Party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, postulated that the damage in Chelyabinsk had in fact been caused by American weaponry, not by a meteor.

The film's release date has not yet been announced. Its budget is expected to fall short of 150,000 rubles ($4,194), according to Rossiiskaya Gazeta.
