Mobile TeleSystems said 16 regional antitrust divisions in Uzbekistan are claiming a total of more than $80 million from its local unit after hearings on Aug. 6 and 7.
MTS plans to challenge the decisions, saying they're groundless, the operator said Wednesday in an e-mailed statement.
Each of the 16 Uzbek antitrust authorities refused the MTS unit's request to delay the hearings, according to the statement.
Uzbekistan prolonged a suspension of the MTS unit's license for three months effective July 30.
