Ministry Presses on Polonsky

The Foreign Ministry has expressed its concerns to the Cambodian ambassador about the investigation into real estate tycoon Sergei Polonsky, who is now in prison in the Southeast Asian nation.

Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov met the ambassador last week and reminded him of the need for an "objective, unemotional investigation" of the matter, a statement from the ministry said, Vedomosti reported.

Polonsky has written to the State Duma with a request that it form a committee to address his problem. He has said there were ongoing attempts to strip assets from his real estate company Potok. Polonsky was arrested in December as a result of a conflict with authorities during his New Year's celebrations.
