Gasoline Tax to Jump 6%

Drivers face a hike in the cost of gasoline next year after the government announced plans to index fuel excise taxes by about 6 percent a year.

In amendments to the Tax Code introduced Friday, excise taxes on Euro-4 grade gasoline will increase to 8,960 rubles per ton starting July 1, while excise on higher-grade Euro-5 will go up to 5,750 rubles per ton.

Duty on Euro-4 and Euro-5 diesel will hit 5,100 rubles per ton and 4,500 rubles per ton respectively.
